Bryce 5 It took an eternity to render, because of all the radial lights I multireplicated, but it is finished and I liked it enough for a wallpaper, so here it is!
*Grin* Thank you! That is one of the most deceptively simple pieces I've done... (meaning it was not simple, because my brain doesn't compute certain x y z mathematical things in order to create other x y z axis blah blah blah...and I refused to be done until I could do it without the tutorial...HAHAHA... The "pins" are just more spheres...hehehe..they're not even anchored to the "wall." The textures...now THOSE are something I'm proud of, cuz I created the illusion of things with them...umm, things like the spheres didn't look like total smooth round balls anymore. I'm sure it's easy for some 12 year old with 3d software, but it's a big accomplishment for moi. I hope reading this doesn't blow up your computer.......it HAS to last until the new one gets there!
P.S. Did you notice that I forgot to put a ) anywhere to close whatever thought? lol....................

If all my friends were to jump off a bridge, I wouldn't follow. I'd be at the bottom to catch them when they fall.
*laugh*
My computer is very weak now, but I think a should be ok. But that's probably the limit, I have no hardware acceleration and a hole in my memory. But Internet seems ok, but on some pages there is an audible wheeze from within it's case. I daren't even look at photo Studio, yay i'm getting Photo Shop 8 with new puter cooooool
EEEEEEK your computer sounds like me... I have a hole in my memory! I'm weak! I sometimes wheeze... AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! I think you should have a countdown to "new computer day" in your sig lol

Thanks... I was staring at this and I am not seeing the repetition in the background that you're talking about...I think I've looked at it for too long...hehe

Perhaps repitition is the wrong term. The texture is not repititious, but the nature of textuers is that they often focus on the detail and not the overall scheme of the picture. There is no idea of the light hitting the sand, or of little ripples in the sand etc. It looks like it exists on two levels, which is the sum of the depth of the texture.
At the same time, despite this lack of important details it is TOO detailed...too busy, and distracts from the main image. The thing is a real bit of sand would have many levels, many shapes, not so rigid of definitions, it's patterns sometimes are distinct, somtimes faded, some pieces protrude, some don't...most are softer in form than this texture etc.
I would be interested to see the beads on a manipulated picture of sand...might give it a different effect.
After examining it for a while maybe it is just supposed to be a textured rock or something...but it just looks too regular, to cg...not repititous, but not varied either.
See what happens? lol...no wonder Ryan just said "wow, mom, it's macaroni art!" and scooted out of here!!! The texture is a rock texture...not one of the standard bryce ones, but not a sand texture...I didn't really think about it much, just thought it looked kinda neat behind the spiral...I actually pictured it as a wall thing anyway, not something on the ground. Repetition is definitely a problem area in Bryce materials...I'm having a great time with it, though!

This newsletter was "born" back in March 2007, from a conversation between ~Lareth and =FrozenStarRo, who with the help of their friends *Iardacil and =Sylwiaa , wanted to make something to promote known and unknown photomanipulators alike here on DeviantArt. As of September 2009 =ImaginaryRosse joined the project and will be helping us out with the weekly choices. While things have changed over time, the essence of the newsletter is still the same. As of recent, the talented =Behana has joined us in bringing you this weekly newsletter and we are excited to have her on board. This is a special feature, with a selection of 50 manips from the past year that we loved.
